We hold clinics at the Berkshire Independent Hospital on a regular basis. If for whatever reason, you are unable to visit the hospital then a home visit can be arranged at no extra cost.

SHOULD I WEAR MY ORTHOSES ALL THE TIME?

Initially, no! It is very important that when you get a new Orthosis, you take your time and break it in. This is done in hourly increments until you are able to wear it with no problems. This takes around two to three weeks. Our Orthoses are designed to fit into most of your footwear and can be transferred.

WILL THE INSOLES FIT INTO MY FOOTWEAR?

It is impossible to guarantee that an Orthosis will fit into all your footwear, given the number of designs available. We will ask you to bring some of your footwear with you during your initial appointment and will try to ensure your Orthosis fits those shoes you want it to.

I HAVE VERY WIDE FEET, CAN YOU HELP?

Yes. Almost every day we hear comments like: ‘I am usually a size 5 but I buy a size 7 for the extra width’. In fact, this means that your footwear is the wrong size and might cause you to trip, fall or do harm to your feet. During your assessment, we do exhaustive tests to ensure we provide you with the best fitting shoe. We understand that style is as important as fit. We work very hard to find footwear that suits your needs.

HOW LONG WILL IT BE BEFORE I SEE RESULTS?

An Orthosis cannot turn back the clock and cure a condition that has taken years to develop. The aim of the Orthosis is to control a joint to reduce pain and / or prevent a deformity from worsening. This will allow you to manage your problems in relative comfort.

HOW LONG WILL MY ORTHOSES LAST?

This depends on how much you use it and also the material it’s made from. In general however most orthoses will last approximately 18 months.

DOES MY PRIVATE INSURANCE COVER THIS TREATMENT?
